Secretts Thai Festival

Bank Holiday Weekend - 27th, 28th and 29th August, 2011

Hurst Farm, Chapel Lane, Milford, Surrey. GU8 5HU

01483 520 500

The Secretts Thai Festival is a celebration of all things Thai and a must for all the family. You will find many food stalls - serving authentic Thai cuisine, much of which is cooked on site as my photograph left demonstrates, 'Chicken Satays cooking over whote hot coals,' craft stalls - selling everything from clothes to furniture, traditional Thai dances and boxing - everyone enjoys those displays and exhibitions of Thai culture. The Festival is held every other year, with the next bank holiday weekend being in August 2013. Pat and I are already looking forward to it and all those wonderful Thai deep-fried snacks, salads, soups and curries.

Chicken Satays

Thousands of delicious Chicken Satay will be consumed over the Bank Holiday weekend and that's just my portion!

Siam Thai Food Stall

The Surimi Prawns look amazingly good and just huge! and at £3.00 for six, make them exceptionally good value for money. Pat particularly likes these.

Phad Thai Prawns Noodles

This gentleman must be cooking the biggest, 'Phad Thai Prawns Noodles,' that the Festival has ever seen. He definitely looks like he knows exactly what he is doing.

Starters and Main Dishes

A delicious beef curry with good diagonal slices of red chillies and spring onions. Sweetcorn Fritters with Vegetable Spring Rolls. Thai Green Chicken Curry and Thai Red Beef Curry sprinkled liberally with red and green chilles. Chicken Wheat Noodles with Green Salad Vegetables, and finally, a Thai Red Beed Curry with Mixed Peppers.

Thai Green Chicken Curry with fresh basil leaves and Thai Musseman Lamb and Potato Curry

Thai curries are traditionally served in these beautiful hand-made earthenware pots.

Thai Barbeque

Fanned King Prawns are almost ready to be skewered. A delicious choice of Chicken, Prawn and Squid Satays, beautifully presented on woven rattan stands, lined with circles of fresh banana leaf. I wonder what the Monks are chosing to eat?

Som Tom - Green Papaya and Green Bean Salad

Pat and Dominique just adore this wonderful crispy fresh salad! Traditonally made with fine shreds of green papaya and pounded in a large and deep, Pestle and Mortar. I asked our lovely cook to make it Thai hot! and she did!

Mixed Satay

Barbeque cooked food is very popular, as you can nibble while strolling around the Festival. This stand is selling a combination of Chicken, Pork, Squid and King Prawn Satays - all look delicious!
