Baylis House Hotel
We’ve found an exciting new venue. Baylis pronounced Baylees.Actually the main house is quite old. Set in a five acre garden, it was built in 1697 and was believed to have been designed by Sir Christopher Wren. Baylis is truly memorable for its architecture and history, as well as its welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff.
The old house lay in dereliction for decades, until it was bought two years ago by an enterprising team.
Whilst retaining and refitting the old house, they at once they built a huge modern detached conference and banqueting suite.
The facilties are mainly used for weddings and conferences. There is also a small new hotel with en-suite bedrooms, and a restaurant and fully licensed bar.
Our course takes place in the one of the banqueting suites, alongside a superb, state-of-the-art professional kitchen, which we will visit during our stay.
This marriage of old and new is striking and exciting.
But the beauty of Baylis is that it is Indian-owned, Indian-managed and has Indian chefs. So it’s perfect for The Curry Club, with hotel personnel sympathetic to our cause. From the moment you arrive, you’ll be treated to the life of privileged guest. Baylis is neither too large nor too small. And it makes it the perfect setting for the Curry Club’s residential cookery course, giving us lots of space, yet total privacy for our weekend. The course is limited to a selectly small number to ensure you get the optimum benefit.
There are many places of historical interest worth a visit in the local area, including: London itself is just 16 miles down the road (the M4). Windsor and Eton are next door as is Runnymead.
